Born and raised in Jefferson, Ohio, Milton moved to Portland, Oregon, where he continued his work as a DJ at Palo Entertainment and carried forward his lifelong dedication to the arts. He was also a former cook at Orchard Tree and a musician with the USAREUR Band and Chorus. Milton served in the U.S. Army as a Soldado, using his talents to inspire others in and out of uniform. A student of Theatre Arts and Vocal Performance, Milton studied at Gannon University, PennWest Edinboro, and the University of Maryland Global Campus, always pushing himself to expand his horizons and cultivate his artistic gifts.
Milton’s journey was marked by an unwavering devotion to music, not just as a profession, but as a way of living and connecting with others. His friends and colleagues remember him as someone who not only played music but lived it, making every moment meaningful through his presence. Whether on the road, backstage, or out with friends, Milton had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. He made music come alive, and his love for life and people was truly infectious.
One of his closest friends, Nathan A. Jones, shared heartfelt words about Milton’s legacy: “Charlie wasn’t just one of the first musicians who traveled everywhere with me—he was my friend, my brother. He was anointed, magnetic, and always lighting up the room. He had a rare gift of really hearing people and understanding them on a deeper level. Charlie’s spirit will always be with us.”
