The Wetaskiwin community is grieving the loss of Dave Volker, a devoted husband, father, and true Alberta cowboy, who passed away on April 5, 2025, at 45 years old. Known for his quiet strength, tireless work ethic, and the love he gave so freely, Dave was a man whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to all who knew him.
Born and raised in rural Alberta, Dave carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and compassion throughout his life. He was a self-made man—respected for his grit, his integrity, and his willingness to show up when it mattered. Whether on a job site or helping a neighbor, Dave led with action, not words.
He made his home in Wetaskiwin with his wife, Amy Johanson-Volker, and their two boys, Wyatt and Westyn. To his family, Dave was everything—a rock, a guide, and a source of warmth and laughter. He lived for his loved ones, and it showed in the quiet, everyday ways he cared for them.
In a touching tribute, Amy shared, “Though our cowboy has rode away, his memory will live on forever in our hearts.” It’s a sentiment echoed across the community as friends and neighbors remember a man whose impact was felt far beyond his years.
A public Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 2:00 PM at the Lakedell Agricultural Society Arena. All who knew Dave are invited to gather and share stories, memories, and gratitude for the time they had with him.
Dave Volker’s legacy isn’t written in accolades, but in the lives he touched—with a steady hand, a kind heart, and the cowboy spirit that defined him. His memory lives on in campfire laughs, fatherly advice, and the way he showed up for the people he loved.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support and asks that condolences be shared through local funeral announcements or directly with the family.
