Wayne, NJ – With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, Wayne Township Public Schools announces the passing of Principal Kenneth Palczewski, who tragically left them on April 10, 2025. As the principal of Wayne Valley High School for over a decade, Mr. Palczewski was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a role model, and a devoted advocate for students, faculty, and the entire school community. His passing marks a tremendous loss for the school and the broader Wayne community, but his legacy will continue to resonate through every student and staff member whose life he touched.
Ken Palczewski was the principal at Wayne Valley High School since 2013, serving with dedication and passion for nearly 12 years. His educational journey began at William Paterson University of New Jersey, where he earned his Master’s degree in Counselor Education and School Counseling. He later went on to receive his Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from New Jersey City University, which further solidified his commitment to shaping the future of education. His career was not just about administering a school—it was about cultivating an environment where every individual could thrive.
Under Mr. Palczewski’s leadership, Wayne Valley High School became a beacon of academic achievement, community engagement, and inclusivity. His approach was always student-centered, with an emphasis on creating an environment where every student felt valued and supported. Whether it was through individualized attention for students, encouraging teachers to innovate in their classrooms, or fostering a culture of collaboration among staff, Principal Palczewski made sure Wayne Valley High School was a place where all were welcome and heard.
Dr. Mark Toback, Superintendent of Wayne Township Public Schools, spoke fondly of Mr. Palczewski’s lasting influence. “Ken was more than just a principal — he was the heart of Wayne Valley. His care for every student, his dedication to his staff, and the sense of family and Valley Pride he brought to our school community made an indelible impact. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in every hallway and classroom. Ken made everyone feel seen and heard. Whether it was a student in need or a teacher looking for support, he always had time. He made us better—not just as educators, but as people.”
Principal Palczewski’s career extended far beyond just his time at Wayne Valley. He had a long-standing commitment to education and counseling, with an early career as a counselor. His background in counseling informed much of his leadership style, as he was always able to connect with students on a personal level, providing guidance and support at times when it was most needed. This deep understanding of students’ emotional and academic needs made him a trusted figure in the community.
Throughout his tenure, Ken was known for his open-door policy, where every student, parent, or staff member could come to him with concerns or suggestions. His leadership was grounded in transparency, empathy, and a true desire to help others succeed. His ability to make each person feel valued, whether they were a student facing challenges or a colleague in need of encouragement, was a hallmark of his character.
Ken Palczewski’s contributions to Wayne Valley High School and the community will not be forgotten. His leadership, spirit, and kindness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of working with him. His commitment to making Wayne Valley not just a school, but a community, is a testament to his values and his unwavering dedication to education.
